VNIT Nagpur is an autonomous university founded in 2002. VNIT Nagpur has been ranked 82 overall by NIRF 2023. The Institute was previously known as the Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE). It was established in 1960 as part of a project funded by the governments of India and Maharashtra. VNIT Nagpur offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees. These courses are provided in the fields of engineering, science, architecture, and humanities.VNIT Nagpur's campus encompasses 225 acres.

VNIT Nagpur is widely known for its undergraduate B.Tech program. Admission to the B.Tech degree is based on the JEE Main entrance examination, followed by the JoSAA Counselling process.To be admitted to VNIT Nagpur's CSE branch, an applicant from the general category must have achieved a JEE Main rank between 1568 and 4708.
