University of Hyderabad (UOH) was established in 1974 as a central university by an Act of Parliament. Also Known as Hyderabad Central University (HCU), it is a unitary university situated at Gachibowli Hyderabad. After Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Hyderabad University has the largest campus area of 2500 acres among all the central universities in India. The university is recognized as an Institute of Eminence by the UGC and is accredited by the NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. It is ranked 10th among top universities in India under the “University” category of NIRF rankings.
Hyderabad University primarily focuses on postgraduate studies and is well known for its research excellence and distinguished faculty. With more than 40 different departments and 12 schools of study, the university has more than 400 faculty members and more than 5,000 students. University of Hyderabad offers more than 100 programs ranging from Master’s degree to Doctoral studies along with a range of Integrated Master’s degree and Postgraduate Diplomas. The university also offers distance education courses through its Centre for Distance and Visual Learning.
Admissions at University of Hyderabad for all courses are conducted based on scores obtained in the national-level entrance examination followed by a personal interview and counselling. The university accepts CUET, JEE Main, GATE, CAT, and other entrance exams for various courses. UoH has signed more signed MoUs with more than 70 national and international universities for student exchange programmes, research & development, joint degree programmes, and more.
